The Mid-Atlantic Coca-Cola Bottling Company is closing its distribution facility in Charlottesville, Virginia on September 17, 2010.  The Coca-Cola bottling building located at 722 Preston Avenue has been there since 1939.  Sales and distribution will be relocated to a larger facility at 500 Eastpark Court, Sandston, Virginia, by Richmond International Airport.  Forty-two employess at this facility will be impacted by the closure.

The 722 Preston Coca-Cola Bottling Company building was noted by the city's planning commission in 2008 as architecturally significant for its art deco industrial design.  Another building at 134 10th Street NW was occupied by Charlottesvlle Coca-Cola Bottling Works, located about half a mile away.  Coca-Cola was first bottled in Charlottesville, Virginia in 1920.

Last November, Mid-Atlantic Coca-Cola shutdown its other facility in Havre de Grace, Maryland. Just like Havre de Grace, Charlottesville will no longer have an operating Coca-Cola facility after 90 years.

Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Washington (CCBCW) announces today that it will be shutting down its operation in Bellingham, Washington on September 17, 2010.  Twenty-three employees of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Bellingham at 2101 Woburn Street will be impacted. CCBCW is also closing facilities in Marysville and Aberdeen to consolidate all the operations in Bellevue.

Coca-Cola first opened a bottling plant in Bellingham in 1905 and had a presence in the city ever since.  Coca-Cola Enterprises purchased the current facility from private owners in the 1990s.
